Are you bothered by stubborn fat on your thighs, tummy, flanks, bra roll or arms? Did you consider liposuction but could not afford the downtime that comes with surgery?Fortunately, improvements in technology have made it a reality to achieve non-surgical fat reduction through a ground-breaking procedure: Coolsculpting®. Coolsculpting® is a technology that safely and effectively freezes fat to improve the contour of unsightly bulges of the body that are resistant to exercise and diet.*

During a consultation, the physician will assess the problem areas that are of concern. Discrete bulges that can easily be grasped with two hands and pulled away from the body respond very well to this treatment. Soft fat responds much better than hard fibrous fat.* Popular areas for treatment include the upper and lower abdomen, love handles, bra rolls, arms and inner thighs. After examination of the trouble areas, a treatment plan of one to two treatment sessions is developed.

Preparing for Coolsculpting®

An initial consultation is scheduled where we discuss the Coolsculpting® procedure, and whether you are a good candidate for the treatment. Your medical history is reviewed to ensure that you do not have any medical conditions that would prevent treatment. You are given the opportunity to talk to patients who have had Coolsculpting® treatments prior to the procedure. We will see you one week after the treatment to ensure that your recovery is uneventful and at the three month mark to evaluate your results. You are always welcome to come back for follow-up, even years after your Coolsculpting® procedure, free of charge.

The Coolsculpt® Procedure

Treatment involves a reasonably comfortable procedure performed in the office without any medications. The affected areas are marked with a marking template. A cool gel sheet is applied to protect the skin. A suction cup device is applied to the problem area which sucks the skin and fat in and gently freezes the fat. The crystallization of fat leads to permanent clearance of these fat cells and byproducts through the lymphatic system and liver. The permanent reduction in fat cells leads to a significant reduction in size of the bulge. More dramatic improvement can be achieved with two sessions separated one month apart. After the procedure, patients can drive themselves home and resume normal activities that same day. Most patients are candidates for CoolSculpting® unless they are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a cold related blood disorder.*

We are proud to offer patient treatment with two CoolSculpting machines at the same time. Instead of treating the love handles in two hours, both sides of the love handles can now be treated in just one hour. The ability to perform two treatments simultaneously will decrease your treatment time, and it allows for a more flexible schedule. Getting rid of unwanted fat is now even easier, and it can occur in half the time!*

How We Minimize Complications of Coolsculpting®:

At the Bitar Cosmetic Surgery Institute, we take pride in making sure we provide for our patients the best clinical experience possible, anticipating problems or set-backs, and addressing them before they happen. This is a process that includes the pre-treatment preparation, the actual procedure, and the after care. Coolsculpting® is a very sophisticated device with several automatic safety mechanisms. This makes the treatment exceedingly safe. Some patients may experience temporary numbness, tingling or a mild burning sensation after the treatment, but this typically resolves quickly. Uncommonly some patients can have nerve sensitivity and moderate pain afterwards which can usually be managed with oral analgesic or topical anesthetic medications.*

Post-Treatment Care – Recovery

Our office will provide you with a detailed post-treatment instruction sheet that will be individualized to your needs.
